DIY Flavored Lip Scrub |
Been having sleepless nights after watching the pilot episode of Ravenswood. Have you seen it? There are some pretty epic scenes that scared the life out of me. I'm not sure if I am ever going to watch that show again, well, at least not alone :) In the meantime, Lush bubblegum lip scrub is still sold out in the store near my place and so I found myself experimenting on another recipe for a homemade lip scrub.
In the past few months, I have been using a recipe that includes olive oil and honey. I didn't really enjoy the overwhelming taste of both flavors, and the color was not appealing at all, and so I thought I'd try a new recipe that could change those. This time, I chose the flavor strawberry because it smells amazing and I wanted the lip scrub to have that strawberry pink color. You can also pick another flavor that you like, which I will explain later on.

You are going to need a cup, lip gloss jar, sugar, Petroleum Jelly, and your favorite lip balm - I am using classic strawberry flavored ChapStick. This lip gloss is colorless when applied but the balm itself is colored strawberry pink, so that will also give my lip scrub the same shade. You can use any lip gloss flavor of your choice. I originally wanted to use the Skittles lip gloss but I had no time to get one.
1. Mix the petroleum jelly, a chunk of lip gloss, and sugar all together in one cup. There is no exact measurement for this, you just have to keep adding sugar if you want your lip scrub to be grainer and add more Petroleum Jelly if you want it creamier.

2. The mixture will look something like this. If you want to add more color, add more lip balm. I wanted to replicate the color of Lush bubblegum lip scrub so I added more chapstick into my mixture to achieve this shade of pink.

3. Use a spoon to transfer the mixture into your lip gloss jar. Keep pressing it down until its full, and you're all set :) I actually like this better than my old lip scrub. But if you prefer using olive oil and honey you can also check my old post
here.
I hope that you find this entry useful. Christmas is only a few months away and this can be a nice inexpensive little gift for your friends. Also, if you made one for yourself please let me know, I would love to see what you came up with :) Have a great day!
